The Three Shots

The smoke still lingered as the first three shots were fired. The crowd went into chaos. "What has happened?" echoed amongst the general population. "What have we witnessed?" The three shots had left no one dead. No one was left struggling for their life. Three simple shots that caused no damage had left the crowd so distraught. The news quickly caught word of the incident as reporters covered the scene. Frantic movements were scene everywhere. The world tuned into the story to uncover the events that happened. This was no regular group event, but a speech given to the people of the United States by their president. The people were all anticipating the news. The report finally arrived after many hours of careful discovery. Everyone was alright. The shots were fired by a prankster looking for his instant fame. After four weeks, the president was ready to address the nation again. This time he needed to address a larger issue. A widespread sickness had passed throughout the country. The death toll had begun to rise. The crowd, upset and disappointed, booed as the president made his speech. "Tonight, we mourn the lives of those who have suffered at the hands of this sickness. We, as the government of the United States of America, are fighting hard to keep this sickness quarantined. Our mission is to not only control this disease, but to stop it. Thank you." The crowd booed the president as he left the stage. The night of the three shots was not simply a prank , but an elaborate distraction.
